Lemieux Spinning: Adapting to change for over 115 years

News - Intro image

Over the years, Lemieux Spinning has had to weather many storms. But 115 years later, the company is still very much alive and kicking. Lemieux Spinning is recognized worldwide as a manufacturer of specialized yarns and is constantly improving and optimizing its processes to push the limits in the creation of wool and synthetic yarns.

"We are the oldest spinning mill in Quebec and probably in Canada," says Serge Lemieux, co-owner of the company with his brother Marc, and great-grandson of Joseph-Albert Lemieux, the mill's founder in 1906. "I think what accounts for our longevity is our ability to adapt to change. Over time, we've managed growth, but we've also had to manage decline. We've had to adjust to the markets, but also to the products and the quantities to be produced, offering more variety and agreeing to make them in smaller batches, while responding to requests as quickly as possible."

"For our part, we also try to stay afloat by finding more specialized niches where we assure our customers that we will serve them better than companies in emerging countries."

Next comes wool knitting yarns (handmade knitting), which Lemieux Spinning has been producing since its inception.  [...]
